A notary public is an attorney who has written specialised exams dealing with authenticating and certifying signatures and documents for legal use which may be recognized abroad.

This includes drafting and executing antenuptial contracts for registration in the South African Deeds Offices, opening a sectional scheme and transfer of exclusive use areas in a sectional scheme, powers of attorney, apostilles confirming certified copies or identity of a signatory to a document for use overseas.
