Lasanthan Pillay is a meticulous and committed professional who from inception of his legal career has continued to serve the profession with the vitality and drive that many strive to achieve.

He is one of the founders of Pillay Cohen Attorneys and deemed one of the intellectual assets of the firm.

Lasanthan has obtained his (LLB) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Thereafter he served as a candidate attorney at a prestigious law firm in Umhlanga.

Lasanthan then proceeded to being admitted as an attorney to the High Court of the Republic of South Africa.

Upon his admission as an Attorney he joined the employ of an employer’s organization as a legal advisor where he obtained his specialised knowledge and experience in Labour Law.

He focuses on all areas of employment and labour law litigation disputes and more specifically, providing legal advice and arbitrating disputes concerning, unfair labour practices, unfair dismissals and collective labour law. 
As a member of the South African Labour Law Association (SASLAW), Lasanthan’s legal expertise spans a broad spectrum, encompassing employment law.
Furthermore he specializes in the following areas of law: Commercial and Corporate Litigation, Banking law, Divorce law, Labour Law and Debt Collection.

In addition to his professional commitment Lasanthan lends his services to the Pro Bono law desk at the Labour Court representing SASLAW. In matters that advance access to justice.

 Lasanthan has also been appointed as a Commissioner for the Small Claims Court situated at Durban.
